چکیده
(1) Purpose: To investigate the efficacy of myopia treatment in children using atropine 0.125% once every two nights (QON) compared with night (HS). (2) Methods: This retrospective cohort study reviewed medical records groups myopia. Group 1 comprised treated QON, while group 2 included HS. The first 6 months data outcome measurements were subtracted as washout periods those undergoing both QON and HS treatment. independent t-test Pearson’s chi-square test used to compare baseline clinical characteristics between groups. A generalized estimating equations (GEE) model was determine factors that influence effects. (3) Results: average ages (38 eyes from 19 patients) (130 65 10.6 10.2 years, respectively. There no significant differences axial length (AL) or cycloplegic spherical equivalent (SEq) at changes them after 16.9 follow-up. GEE showed frequency use has association annual AL (QON vs. HS: 0.16 ± 0.10 0.18 0.12) SEq −0.29 0.44 −0.34 0.36) all It also older age (B = −0.020, p < 0.001) associated lesser elongation. (4) Conclusion: effects similar this pilot study. may be an alternative strategy for who cannot tolerate side observation should confirmed further large-scale studies.

The treatment group consisted of 126 eyes of 63 children who received atropine eye drops daily for one year and the control ...
متن کاملTopical Atropine in the Control of Myopia
Atropine has been used for more than a century to arrest myopia progression. Compelling evidence of its protective effect has been reported in well-designed clinical studies, mainly performed during the last two decades. However, its exact mechanism of action has not been determined. Experimental findings have shown that the mechanism is not related to accommodation, as was thought for decades....
متن کاملOvernight orthokeratology is comparable with atropine in controlling myopia
BACKGROUND Many efforts have been invested in slowing progression of myopia. Among the methods, atropine administration and orthokeratology (OK) are most widely used. This study analyzed the efficacy of atropine and OK lens in controlling myopia progression and elongation of axial length. METHODS This retrospective study included 105 patients (210 eyes) who wore OK lenses and 105 patients (21...
